Guys - it's really important that you all read every word of these guidelines. If a post violates our guidelines, it will be moderated. In NO WAY is that an infringement on your freedom of speech. While everyone does have freedom of speech, if there are clearly written rules and guidelines that are totally ignored, then we'll remove the post in violation. Just as I was just told "nobody is above the law" nobody on these forums is above our guidelines.

Level 9

Pretty sad that this needed to be spelled out so in depth.

Community Manager

I agree, @RevivalGypsy. These guidelines were posted over a year ago (a year and 2 days to be exact!) but there still seems to be confusion surrounding threads or posts getting removed.

These rules aren't new here, they aren't new to most online forums, and they really aren't that strict.

Thank you to those that follow these guidelines! Heart

Great refresher to "all" OfferUp users @Mj_206!

Not sure why your post got reposted 😕

It is that good... 😀

Community Helper

I couldn’t agree more @Mj_206 If more members entering the forums would just set aside a few minutes reading our guidelines, there wouldn’t be any misunderstandings of what is allowed and what is not allowed to be posted. This would really help members understand the best way to participate in thread topics, how to interact, ins and outs, tips and tricks, etc. This will make participating in the forum a better experience for all our members.

Thanks for the insightful post, @Hotrod Smiley Happy

I don't exactly enjoy enforcing the rules or being the "bad cop" but from time to time it needs to happen. I want each and every one of us, all 300,000, to be happy and successful buying or selling on OfferUp Smiley Very Happy

I agree w you and hotrod but rules that brake our laws are not enforcableenand can lead to legal action.u cannot have rules that violate someones civil rights.the law of our land overrides any and all rules u may think u go by..law not ur rules governing our land

@Thankuall these guidelines were approved by our in-house layers. You have violated several of our guidelines which is why I took action. All actions were approved by our lawyers. If you have concerns, reach out to me directly.

Neighbor

I have been on here for awhile. I am wondering if anyone else is having problems taking more than one pic of the item that they are selling. I can get 2 or 3 pics but they show up as grey squares and when I'm done all but one disappears and the one that is left is a grey square. I always have to go back and check to make sure the pic is on there. Any advise?

I dont understand why it is so hard for some to follow these guidelines. They are simple and self explanitory, most of all they are for the most part common sense and are made for ones safety and well being and yet so many issues arise and I can't figure out why and what we could do to better safety for ourselves and others..

Neighbors. Just type whatever you want

No wonder i cant sell anything to pay my bills

It's to diffacult for some to follow..

Captain

I'd like to ask, how can I move my items back up to the top of the feed after a few days?

Community Helper

@1toniosnana Welcome to the OfferUp Community forum,

1toniosnana Information below,

Bump is the easiest way to get your item back in the spotlight in order to find a buyer fast. Each Bump you buy puts that item at the very top of browsing and search results, showing it among items that are newly posted so that it has a better chance at being seen by more buyers

Don't worry, bumping your item will not change the price or any other details. Note that as new items are posted, your item will slowly move down the feed again, just like brand new items do.

You can also do a quick search in the forum for thread topic; Learning About Bump

You will get a short video about bumping your items. After closing the video you’ll also be able to see the thread Elin has. I’ll also tag you into the thread topic.

Step-by-step guide on how to buy a Bump

Anywhere you see Bump on one of your items, you can Bump it. Here's how to get started in the app:

1 Tap  Offers

2 Tap on Selling, then tap Bump (or Promote, then Bump) on the item you'd like to Bump

3 Finish buying the Bump through your app store. You won't be charged until you confirm you're willing to pay.

You can also buy a Bump through the OfferUp website.

Captain

I would appreciate the following:

• sellers responding in a timely manner--within 2 days maximum!

• requiring dimensions of home items

I have tried to purchase several home items--furniture; there are sellers that never respond, even when I've offered their asking price!  These sellers should be removed from this app.

Level 9

I’m guilty of not reading the rules. I’m doing so now. Hopefully anything I posted in the past was ok. Never had anything removed. Like was already said above, common sense, respect for others. Going back now to finish reading the rules. Thanks again for the reminder. Everyone should read them just as a refresher. OfferUp is a great app. We all can make it better.

Community Helper

@Jones68 Thank you for taking the time reading the community guidelines. 👍😎🇬🇧🔚

Level 9

Ok. Read the rules. It all seems like common sense stuff to me. Just think about where you are and what your doing. This is the USA. If you know right from wrong then there shouldn’t be any problems. Not saying all the rules are about law. Safety plays a part to. All the things that are prohibited are for everyone’s safety and well-being. common sense stuff. Thank you for reminding me to read the rules. I should of done it long ago. Everyone have a great day.

Level 3

Hi, I have a pretty good profile on all categories except "ITEM AS DESCRIBED" which is 60%. I go the extra mile and always put measurements and descriptions.  When I meet buyers, the ones that have not bought the items is because they do not read the measurements or descriptions ( although they say they did when asked before we meet). What else can I do on my side to improve this rating?

Neighbor

New here and just want to say hello✌🏾

Level 9

@Duan  Hi Duan. Welcome to OfferUp. Hope you have fun and sell and buy.

Level 9

@0425Miami  All you can really do is make sure your putting as much information as you know about what your selling. It’s up to people to read before they ask or offer a price. Believe me. I put everything I can about what I’m selling. But, for what ever reason. People only look at the pictures. Hang in there. It will fix itself. Your putting all info in. Most people do read. But at times, you get a few who don’t. Hang in there.

@Hotrod

My name is Darlene and Ive

Level 9

I don’t believe you are allowed to post what your posting on the forums. You may want to read the rules on this. If I’m wrong then I’m sorry. Still you should check.

Neighbor

Hi. I am relatively new here and totally overwhelmed.  There seems to be so much to “know” and I don’t know where it is all explained.  For example, how to use the bumps, to earn the different tags I notice, how you use the board I discovered, etc.....is there a place I haven’t discovered yet that explains just how this all works?  I definitely need some direction!

Captain

Yes indeed people be kind so kind and very helpfull to thy people of buy and or sell it's a great thing we got going here in our little sublet so be kind and blow out the O ring....

Thanks to everyone that has made this possible..

Captain

How do you go about shipping any item big or small after you sell it on here

Thank you! Loving the new mail options.  Game changer!

Level 1

I made a post about men messaging me starting with the words hey sexy..one of the people that posted a response stood up for women by apologizing on behalf of men..another person claimed that the post was reported and that was not acceptable. And would not be tolerated..I didn't read anything in the guidelines about what to do if someone is using offer up as a dating site..nor did I see anything that states I can't bring it up..what did I do wrong

Level 9

@Kkbristow   You can’t blame yourself for someone’s bad behavior. Hope you reported and blocked the person or persons. I don’t know what to say. I’m sorry this happened to you. Hopefully if everyone blocks the @##@#@##. They will stop being on here. Good luck to you. Far as I know, Report and Block.

Level 1

Thank you..I did respond with "Offer Up is used for selling and buying, if you're looking for a dating site please return to your browser and look up match.com or mocospace" I also stated that they were inappropriate and I would appreciate if they had a little bit more respect for women" I don't blame offer up for these men..I blame society and the people that don't know the difference in a business site and a "hook up" site..my experience with Offer Up has been very satisfying and very profitable..I posted what I did to make the community aware of these sexist perverted men

Level 9

@Kkbristow   Glad you did. I’m also glad you’re strong enough to deal with it. A lot of people would want to just give up and leave. Good for you my friend. We need more people like you to stand up and give it back. Thank you. Have a beautiful day.

New Member

Heyy! New here. Just want to make sure I read that right. It is a violation for me to post a service that I offer such as Scentsy?  It is a direct sales business only and you can only purchase through a Consultant.  Is there some place I can advertise this so that people who Are interested in scentsy can get in touch with me? Thanks in advance

Community Manager

Great question, @Gotnoshoeson! Anything similar to Scentsy, LuLaRoe, or any MLM companies would be a service, as it generally requires custom purchases to the consultant, then the consultant has to wait for the stock to come in. That being said, if you had, for example, a ton of the individual items ready to sell as is (meaning the inventory is on hand and won't require any direct custom orders) that is fine to post. So if you have 50 bottles of different perfumes to sell and already have the inventory, you'd list each item indivually.

I hope that clears it up!

Level 1

I just learned when somone messages me with a less than acceptable offer or just alerts and does not show.

Just raise the price by $5 or $10.

😊 Your Welcome

New Member

I'm trying to figure out how a. Torque wrench is a violation. Others get to sell the exact same thing?

Level 9

@stevenneel66 it shouldn't be! Maybe the way you wrote the discription or the item name. Check that out and possibly change you wording.

Captain

If you delete an item your selling and make a new post with new pics and more info does that put your listing back at top of the rotation? Can you post items in different categories? Like furniture that is antique can I post both in furniture and antiques or another categories? Is there a certain time of day you should post that will get it viewed more? One thing I do like that let go does is it shows the items that person sold and for how much. Gives me a good idea on how they are with people and if I'm selling something similar a good idea of how to price. See how they describe their item and how their pictures look. Also I can view everything that person is selling and may want to purchase multiple items from them. I know it says not to but I do give my address when it looks like I have a serious buyer most I sell is furniture at the moment and its way easier for them to pick up here. But I never let in my house and recommend no body else let anyone in they're home either. I've had quite a few people let me in their house. I don't go inside anybody's house anymore and none come in mine. I love that there is a free section to post in. I would like it if there was maybe $1, $5, $10 sections also or a reduced price section. Does anyone sell on Facebook marketplace? Just wondering thoughts and opinions vs. offer up.
