Vent... buyer request for refund....

Level 9
A few days ago I posted in another topic regarding selling to buyers with poor star ratings, I felt this coming I guess.
A buyer purchased an item that clearly states the flaw, states that price is deeply discounted to reflect such flaw, and requests buyer to review photo of flaw prior. Well, guess who got an "item not as decribed" case. I am beyond frustrated and probably just venting, sorry 😋
I responded and denied the request, I am hoping ou team resolves this.
After 3 no shows yesterday on the same item, I am losing my patience with ou buyers. Uggggh I learned a lesson though, no more sales to buyers with less than 5 star/low transaction numbers.

@RevivalGypsy UGH!! That is incredibly frustrating. Your description listed any "flaws" that the item had. I heavily noted the case the buyer opened so any payment specialist that reviews this has that additional information.

Thank you, I shortly after got an email that says I was given my money as a one time courtesy, but if a buyer requests a return in the future my money will be delayed. While I appreciate this, the "defect" on my account seems unfair. Glad it was a low dollar item, but the back and forth with the buyer was frustrating. These buyers exist everywhere it just seems more so on here sometimes with the amount of time i spend on each item between answering questions that are CLEARLY in descriptions and requests to meet 45 mins away for $7 items that state SHIPPING ONLY at least 3 times.

@RevivalGypsy

How does delaying payment resolve buyer's remorse/illiteracy?

Haha it is a punishment to the seller for not becoming the educator

Hmm, typically that is true on accounts that have low shipping ratings or additional reports against them. As far as I can tell, you don't have a pattern of sending items that are different than the description.

There are a couple of ideas behind that delay. Let's say a seller was improperly describing items, was mass selling items, and cashing out the funds using the fast deposit feature. If that seller had completed enough sales to receive the faster/automatic payment disbursal and a claim was submitted after the funds were already transferred, ultimately OfferUp would take quite a loss, as the seller would have received the funds and the buyer would be refunded. The delay is typically to ensure that there isn't anything fishy going on.

@RevivalGypsy with over 100 successful shipping sales, I certainly hope that one claim against you signals that delay. I'll keep an eye on your case to make sure it's getting handled.

Did you also receive a refund from the "transaction fee" for this return?
