NOT getting paid after shipping

I accepted offer. I shipped it the next day. The buyer accepted it and gave me 5 stars. OFFERUP took his money. He got my merchandise. Everything is completed accept for I HAVE NOT BEEN PAID. OFFERUP GOT PAID THEIR FEE. THE BUYER GOT WHAT HE WANTED BUT IM SITTING HERE ASSED OUT OF MONEY AND MY KITCHENAIDE. THANKS OFFERUP.

Here’s exactly what happened. I list my item, someone made an offer, I clicked accept offer, buyer allegedly sends payment to OfferUp and OfferUp tells me they have my money and are holding the funds, and to ship my item ASAP using the attached paid label. I ship my item in the next hour, and 4 hours later I receive an email saying payment was canceled because of a transaction error and that I can “relist my item again”, in exactly those words. There is no way this isn’t a huge error in OfferUp’s system. This shouldn’t even be possible. So either they made a system error and they don’t have my money and can let buyers cancel orders after they give sellers a label and tell them to ship ASAP and buyers are unknowingly or knowingly exploiting that, OR OfferUp is holding my money from the buyer for whatever reason and is refusing to give it to me. The terribly incompetent support is just the cherry on top. Wish I could at least talk to a human on the phone instead of a robot copy pasting the same thing they tell everyone without actually listening to me. I literally had a support personnel tell me multiple times to wait for my money and that I should expect to see it when the item is shipped even though I explained my story in detail multiple times. They just refuse to listen and give me the same cookie cutter script blaming me of being impatient.

Don’t expect much when they tell you this. This same mod told me the same exact thing 3 weeks ago. Haven’t heard ANYTHING since. And when I try messaging Mj_206 she doesn’t reply to my messages. Ive been told I was being forwarded to a payment specialist probably 5 different times. Haven’t heard from anyone in over a month. Don’t try their twitter support team too. They ignore my messages and just tell me to reply to them on OfferUp support. Truly incompetent or a something shadier.

@esc2010 please understand that shipping is not my area of expertise. I am not on our Customer Care team, and I can not offer support. There are over 350,000 people registered here on these forums and only one of me. I do my best to respond, however, my hands are a bit tied when it comes to receiving support. I just chatted with our Payments specialists and they let me know that they responded to your case and stated that they will update you once they have additional information.

It’s been a month since I’ve first been told that and it’s nearly impossible to get a response from support. I know it’s not your fault. But there’s a lot of promises made that I’ve yet to see fulfilled and overall this is a terrible support system. I don’t even have any idea what’s going on, whether OfferUp made a system mistake or not because they’ve yet to admit or disclose anything. Instead they take a stance that is very anti consumer by not responding to update requests and not providing a phone number or a line I can use to speak to an actual human. It shouldn’t be that difficult. Either OfferUp owns up to the mistake and pays me out if they never received payment or they give me the money the buyer has already given them. I don’t understand why this could take over a month...

I am in a similar situation and have not been paid after shipping- going on a month now. They keep claiming a senior payment specialist is working on it - what a joke! I talked to an attorney and have been advised to wait the full month before proceeding with filing a case. There are several other people this has happened to and there is a good possibility of pursuing class action of we all get in touch.

as an update i finally got my money back this week. no response or notification from offerup at all. i wouldve thought they would have told me and apologized but nope. it just appeared in my bank account without even the name offerup, just some sketchy transaction label: "STRIPE". ive also been getting sketchy messages on other things im selling offering to buy my stuff but have it shipped. but when i asked if they wanna do paypal instead of offerup payments, they refused and immediately shut up. sounds like people exploiting the scam. idk why offerup isn't listening to its customers and hasn't shut their failure of a payment system down...
