What if seller denies receiving or intentionally damages return?

I have a claim against a seller who lied in an advertisement about what was included, then shipped with bad packaging so the item was damaged.  I've initiated a return, which I assume will be approved since the seller admitted to misrepresenting the item in chat.  The seller also left negative feedback just because I initiated a return.  Clearly, this seller is very untrustworthy.

So my question is, what if the seller denies ever receiving the return, receiving it incomplete, or intentionally damages it and claims I did the damage or didn't package it right (which would be an ironic claim)?  This seems like a seller that would do exactly that.  In that case, would I be on the hook for the money?

Thank you.
