Half the time it's not even a scam. For the most part the reason people ask is so they have your number to call you and ask questions. They seem to think it's faster to explain things that way and provide more images. Which obviously can all be easily done through the app. My assumption is, just like with old craigslist, they seem to believe giving out your "personal number" makes you more legit somehow. I usually tell them "Is it something you can ask here? I can update the post with more images or answer any questions. It would be the same honeslty." Although not advised, if they persist I just give them a VoIP number. All that said, yes, I would avoid this type of person if you feel that they arr trying to scam you.
